About me

Location Hoover, AL, United States
Introduction Photographer, naturalist, and teacher -- all are the streams that flow together when I step behind the camera. I've been shooting as a kid: My first camera was an Argus TLR, and from there, I went through The List: a Canon RF, a Fuji SLR, a Praktica (big mistake, an East German camera...,) then a Yashica TLR, Minolta SLR's, and finally Nikons for the last 20+ years. I switched to digital back in 2004-5 and have never looked back. You'll probably see the tell-tale signs of a teacher in my posts, and most probably the traces of my Quaker/Christian sensibilities as well. For the most part, this blog will center on observations and discoveries as I pass my time with camera or binoculars in hand. I may well stray into the areas of gear reviews and software tips and tricks where those are warranted. Knowing that your time and attentions are valuable, I will try to make your visits to this blog site entertaining and informative. I welcome your thoughts and comments. This site is dedicated to the love of my life, my beautiful wife Eva.
