In a previous life I had 2 husbands, 4 kids and more pets; worked in pr, design and marketing; evaluated training programs; taught studio art; ran art and craft galleries; advised solopreneurs on how to market themselves and was a general know-it-all while juggling children and corporate wifedom. It was a lot like tap dancing while twirling flaming batons. The children can now cook, use power tools and use the right fork. Though somehow I remained out of psychiatric hospitals I do not claim to have managed this unmedicated. Apparently the first five decades caught up with me. I became chronically ill in my fifties and at 59 was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer. It's an unusual disease but so am I. In treatment, I'm still me, just not a know-it-all and have sworn off baton twirling. |
