Introduction | If I was writing a book about myself, I would include stories about my husband Kyle. and I and how we married 17 years ago after dating five years; then I would have to tell the story of how we became parents 10 months after our wedding day, then parents again 19 months later, then decided no more children, then adopted nine years later - and how now we never say "never!" I would write about how hard it is for me to write, even though I've been doing it for 20 years, but then I would have to add how writing keeps me sane so I can't quit. I would have to include a chapter on how my love of photography has been resurrected from the ash heap of college life. I would include a chapter on my strangely interesting home state - Oklahoma - who most people know nothing about. I would write about God and how much I love Him and how growing up in the Bible belt has made me think deeply about my faith and what I believe. I would write about how I am learning to be courageous, and humble, and patient, and I would end with an epilogue about God's amazing grace, and how it makes the journey worth it all. So I take a lot of notes, because I want to remember all the beautiful places along the way. |
