Introduction Helping people cope with disasters and emergencies is what I love to do. Chomping at the bit, but too young to volunteer, I spent time watching local firefighters and following disasters and the response crews that followed. When I was 18, I began emergency medical and firefighter training. I continued my training and achieved the level of licensed Paramedic. As a Paramedic I served emergency victims in multiple settings, including hospital ER's and a 911-based emergency medical service. My expertise and desire to share has led me to teach emergency procedures to graduate-level students. In parallel, I continued my training and work as a firefighter and became a rescue specialist (structural and wildland firefighting; rope, water, swiftwater and vehicular rescue; and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing). I've held the ranks of firefighter, lieutenant, medical officer, captain, and rescue coordinator. I’ve also served my dept. as a member, and ultimately president, of the board of directors. Along with 20 years of emergency work and many EMS and fire-rescue cert’s, I hold a BA in psychology, a doctorate in chiropractic, and am currently a candidate for a MS in nutrition.
