Introduction	In the past three years of 15 years as an Art Educator, I have learned so much more about this profession and myself too! Processing an understanding of our world and expressing myself through the visual arts is the way I learn. Visual art is a language of communication that is powerful in learning about others and ourselves. Beyond learning the process of skills in art making, there is purpose, thoughtful meaning and deeper connections to nurture and bring to the surface for our students. The highlights of the past three years have been learning how to assess the visual arts, engaging students in self-assessment, studying Reggio, and attending grad school at the Corcoran. My work there has brought my attention to bringing out the identity of our young ones within their art through meaningful observation and conversation about their thinking.
