About Me
I teach history at George Mason University and Georgetown University. I also work freelance, teaching English as a a Foreign Language (EFL), tutoring English prose, and translating from German to English. HISTORY RESEARCH: I specialize in modern Germany as well as war and society. My research interests include social and gender history, military culture, military thought, atrocities in war, and historiography. BLOGS: (1) "Clio and Me" is aimed at historians, but it written for a general audience. (2) "History Survey" is for my students. It contains advice about writing and studying history. (3) "History Survey Links" emphasizes primary sources and other history resources on the net. (4) "On My Mac" is a non-technical blog about how I use my iBook. (5) "MS Language Services relates to my freelance teaching, tutoring, and translating. AVATAR: What's with the red dog? I don't have a digital photo of myself, so I chose this thing for instant messaging. Since then it has extended to other parts of my online identity. Gotta' get a camera someday.
