I like to read books. One time I thought that it would be the coolest thing in the world if I could figure out a way to read in the shower. I thought about making this plastic baggie contraption, but then I realized that I wouldn’t be able to turn the pages. So I had to be content with reading while eating breakfast, blow-drying my hair, waiting in line for movie tickets, pretending to eat lunch at work, pretending to do the dishes, actually doing the dishes, sitting at the stoplight that never ends, visiting my parents, talking to people I don’t like very much on the phone, stuck on hold with my bank, watching TV (except for The Office), watching movies (unless they’re actually good, and even sometimes then), folding clothes, falling asleep, making lunch, writing, checking Facebook, listening to music, working out at the gym, stretching at the gym, trying to recover from the gym, at home sick from the cold, at home sick of being at work. Even so, there’s not enough hours in the day to read. Why does life always have to get in the way?
