About me

Introduction I received a BA in Mass Communications and English from the University of Illinois at Chicago many, many years ago. After spending time pursuing a creative writing career in the mountains of Colorado, the coast of Oregon, and the frozen tundra of Minnesota, I moved to Japan to become an English as a Second Language instructor. While in Japan I met my lovely wife Grace (who is from the Philippines, not Japan), and our beautiful daughter Dazzlyn was born in 2003. Seven years later I moved to sunny Southern California to continue that career. I enrolled in Bard College Delano and earned my MAT in Literature, then joined started my career as an English instructor at WCPA in 2011. In 2018 I moved to McFarland High School! My focus of academic research is Yeats's Studies. I have presented conference papers on the influence of Ralph Waldo Emerson on the life and work of William Butler Yeats, as well as Yeats's influence on contemporary society. My long-term goal is to earn a Ph.D. in English and publish a book on my research. For more about me, please follow the blog-journal of my first year of teaching, and feel free to comment and ask questions about anything you'd like to know!
