| Introduction | I was an activist in a poor people's movement in the early 1970s, and a social worker in the public services for 20 years. I am now Professor of Social Policy at Plymouth University, and have held visiting chairs in Amsterdam, Aalborg, Bremen, Cologne, Bratislava, Budapest and Prague. I have written 27 books, the latest being 'Why the Third Way Failed', published by Policy Press, Bristol, in October, 2010. |
