| Introduction | I used to just consider myself a solitary man. But since I've taken the time to assess my life, I have to admit that I fit the profile of what is generally termed a "loser". Yes, that's right, a loser. Let's review the facts: -I'm 42 and a virgin. Check. -I love comics and sci-fi. Check. -I'm a Jesus Freak. Check. -I'm a political and economic radical. Check. -I'm a hypercritical perfectionist sad-sack pessimist who loves to revel in dark thoughts. Check. There it is in black and white. Let me savor the sweet sound of the word: LOOOOOSER. Mmmmm. But, I don't feel bad. I should be alarmed. I have a talent for bringing myself down. So, I try to wallow in self-pity. But where does that lead me? What do I not have that I need? Nothing. Have I ever failed to gain something I wanted? Nope. (Okay, I failed to teach myself tensors. But that was only a minor curiosity.) I suck at self pity. Why am I even telling you this? I must be a loser. |
