| Introduction | Welcome to The Widow's Mite. About me—who am I? Here's 'me' in a nutshell: I'm "Mom" to four adult daughters, "Grammy" to ten grandchildren. My marriage history has included three marriages. The first lasted thirty-six years until my husband passed. On the run from grief, I married again—only to grieve my divorce three years later. Another marriage began seven years ago but sadly ended in July 2012 when I lost my spouse to cancer. Each time death has taken a husband from me, I have found this true. Death of a loved one, expected or unexpected, is like a hard punch to the stomach, knocking the wind out of you, an in-the-gut blow that leaves the soul gasping for oxygen. You have to find pockets of consolation to endure—to survive. In this blog, I hope you will find a breath of comfort, a 'mite' of encouragement and a bit of hope. |
