Introduction I am a Mediterranean field archaeologist specializing in the archaeology of first millennium BC Italy and the architecture and urbanism of Italic cultures. My research interests encompass the whole of ancient Italy and the Roman Empire, but in particular I am pursuing issues related both to regionalism and regional interaction and the role played by these phenomena in the fashioning of Italy during the time of the Roman Republic, as well as issues dealing with the development and morphology of architectural forms in first millennium BC Italy. Educated at Franklin & Marshall College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I am at present the Managing Director and a co-principal investigator of the Gabii Project in Central Italy, an urban excavation of an ancient Latin city sponsored by the University of Michigan and its Kelsey Museum of Archaeology.
