| Introduction | Born in the Midlands in the early Seventies, Dan Powell worked as a Secondary School English Teacher for nearly ten years and is currently studying for an MA in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University. His work has most recently appeared in the pages of Carve Magazine, Paraxis, Structo, The Molotov Cocktail, and Fleeting. He recently received a Carve Esoteric Award for his short story ‘Storm in a Teacup’, while ‘Half-mown Lawn’ won the Yeovil Literary Prize for short fiction and is included in Salt Publishing’s The Best British Short Stories 2012. His currently unpublished debut collection of short fiction was shortlisted for the 2013 Scott Prize. When not writing, Dan teaches part time and takes care of his young family as a homedad. |
