| Introduction | In 2004 I moved from Silicon Valley, California to Durango, Colorado. I bought a beautiful little house, managed to find interesting jobs to support myself and my dog (a Samoyed named Yuki), made some friends and put many miles on my hiking boots. In 2015, I had to sell my lovely home to get out from under crippling credit card debt that I didn't want to follow me into retirement. For reasons that seemed good at the time, I moved to Seattle, Washington in October of 2015, and proceeded to use up the small amount of proceeds remaining from my house to pay rent and buy food for the seven months it took me to find a job there. An experienced executive assistant, I never believed finding work would be so difficult. I ended my job in Seattle after two wet and unhappy years, and returned to Durango. I am once again looking for a job that will allow me to find my own place and support myself in this small town, and that will possibly allow me to reduce my working hours and start traveling when I'm eligible to retire next year. In the meantime, I am endeavoring to find peace, and purpose, and happiness once again. Just being back in the mountains is an excellent start! |
