| Introduction | I am a resident of Charles County and serve as Director for the March of Dimes of Southern Maryland and as a member of the Charles County Board of Education. I have been blessed with four beautiful children that keep me very active and involved. I got involved with the March of Dimes because my fourth child, Rebecca, was born premature at 31 weeks, weighing in at only 3 lbs. 6 oz. She was unresponsive at birth and had no heart rate. The wonderful staff at Georgetown University Hospital revived her and took care of her for the next few terrifying weeks. If it had not been for the staff at Georgetown and the March of Dimes funded research, little Rebecca probably wouldn’t be with us today. My other community involvement… volunteer as President of the Indian Head Swim Team, a Youth Leader at New Life Wesleyan Church, and serve on the Charles County Homeless and Emergency Shelter Committee,and the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Board for the Tri-County area. In addition, I am an active member of the Charles County Commission for Women, the Kiwanis of LaPlata, Partnership for a Healthier Charles County, and the Charles County Chamber of Commerce. |
