About me

Introduction I don't believe any person's life is 'worth more' than any other's. One thing I've really latched onto with Unitarian Universalism is that Every person has inherent worth and dignity. We must separate the individual as an abstract being and their actions, but we must also look at the whole context of a person's life when judging those actions. I believe in the equivalent of the death penalty for those who continue to prey on others even when there are other avenues. There is a difference between stealing an apple because you're hungry and stealing an apple to make life hard for the grocer. I don't think it should be used as a 'punishment', but as a last recourse if the person is not able to learn and change their predatory behavior. It is less cruel to end a life than to keep someone in a cage until they either become too infirm to harm others or die behind the walls. It is more humane to state the treatments tried and to own the explicit decision to end a life than it is to abjugate the responsibility to time and happenstance behind closed doors. It is cowardice to do that.
