About Me

My ideological head has spun in complete circles in my so-far short existence. If you have good arguments to make, please do make them, and I will probably engage you in debate. Generally, I am a very tolerant human being, the only exception being that I do not suffer fools gladly. Possibly the two most interesting things about me are that I have a degree in physics and that I went to Iraq as the old regime was crumbling. Currently thinking about a "career" (long overdue) and looking to travel to bits of the world I haven't been to yet. These last two might conflict at some point.

Well, maybe they don't need them, but don't you think that some fish might like a bicycle?

In fact, I do have some goldfish at home, and I am currently in the process of training them to ride bicycles. When the results become available, I will publish in a peer-reviewed journal. So far things are very promising.

Favorite Movies

• I have been scarred for life by Bela Tarr's Autumn Almanac--in a good way. Generally the Iranains are good filmmakers. Ditto Palestinians (and I used to watch Palestinian films BEFORE Paradise Now and Divine Intervention thank you very much). Actually I loved the Muppet Films too and occassionally good Sci-Fi (good as in high brow
• eg A Scanner Darkly).

• Classical Arabic music (particularly of Iraq)

• REM (although they were before my time really)
• The Avalanches
• Sabah Fakhry
• Palestinian folkish stuff (especially with jingoistic/nationalist lyrics)

Favorite Books

• A long and evolving list. Amin Maalouf and Salman Rushdie are good places to start reading (historical)fiction

• I love Swift (who was Irish which I suppose in today's world is White). In terms of science
