Gender Female
Industry Science
Occupation Plant Geneticist/ Developmental Biologist
Location Stanford, CA, United States
Introduction I'm a plant biologist. My lab works on understanding how plants grow - it might seem like a simple question but there's still a whole lot we don't know.
Interests plants, genetics, skiing, music
Favorite Music Choral music, Bill Evans, Arcade Fire, Adele, Budos Band and pretty much anything you can dance to. I'm working on a science music playlist right now - we'll see how it turns out.
Favorite Books Verse and Universe (A book of poems about science, unfortunately out of print), most Genetics textbooks (Strickberger, Suzuki et al. and Snustad et al. come to mind), Stent and Calendar's Molecular Genetics, An Introductory Narrative - love this!, Developmental Biology (Gilbert), On Food and Cooking by Harold McGee (part science - including botany, chemistry, physics and anatomy, part history, part cookbook - there's nothing else like it. You could teach an entire high school's science curriculum from this book) (Yes, I like non-science books too, but this is a science blog)
