Cllr Alexis Rowell

About Me

I'm a ward councillor for Belsize, Chair of Camden Council's all-party Sustainability Task Force, a member of Camden's Development Control Committee (Planning), a Trustee of the Camden Green Fair, the largest free green awareness event in the UK and the founder of a climate change consultancy called cuttingthecarbon. I worked as a BBC journalist for nearly ten years, mostly covering the consequences of the fall of the Berlin Wall. I was a BBC correspondent in Moscow, Kiev and Tbilisi, and a reporter on the Today Programme and Newsnight back in the UK. In 1999 I completed an MBA at the INSEAD business school in France. From 2000 until 2007 I worked in business development for technology companies. In 2008 I completed an MSc in Food Policy at City University. I'm currently writing a book about how communities and councils can work together to push the climate change and sustainability agenda forward faster, further, deeper. I'm a member of Transition Belsize, Amnesty International, Greenpeace, the Soil Association and Friends of the Earth.
