| Introduction | My name is Nicole and I am the spouse of a twenty nine year old man with a diagnosis of Narcolepsy. I am a North Carolina Native and reside in the triangle area with my husband and our two year old son. My husband and I are highschool sweethearts and have been together for 12 years. During this time I have withnessed several vehicle collisions, hospitalizations and job changes as a resort of the Narcolepsy. I love my husband dearly and make every effort to support him in everyway possible. Currently we are both employed full time and I carry a part time job to make extra income. We have plans for another child within the next year but my concerns regarding his ability to manage it all has me second guessing. As with any health situation it is emotionally taxing to see your spouse "sick" but even more so when you know there is no cure. I often struggle with ways to support him through the daily challenges such as getting up, and to work on the time. My daily prayer is that God give me the strength to be there for my husband and that we make it through another day. |
