About Me

As a gardener I began moving rocks and plants in my parents’ garden at the age of ten. I have moved many since then both in my own gardens and those of family and friends. As a blogger I began by sharing video footage of the European Robin with my friend in Australia who was missing Scotland. I now have over 125 videos of garden birds, wildlife and plants. I really enjoy making these videos and taking photographs too – a zoom lens helps of course! As a blogger I discovered a new interest in the birds and wildlife visiting my garden. I have experimented with foods, feeders and nest boxes. Having a camera in a Nestbox has been absolutely fascinating to watch. I am amazed at the birds that have found their way to my garden – hedgehogs too. My gardenwatch still remains my main blog but I have two spin-off blogs for extra photos. I also have a home page www.shirlsgardenwatch.co.uk with links if you are a visitor with a particular interest. I have a small 'L' shaped town garden which is mostly green with splashes of colour. I love the design aspect of planting especially with foliage. I also still love working with stone where my gardening bug first began!
