Introduction	I'm a local girl who couldn't wait to move out of this small Maine town when I graduated from high school. After some time away, I couldn't wait to get back. I graduated from college and spent several years teaching high school English and working at a brewery in Bangor, ME. I can now add things to my resume like "Certified Teacher in Maine" and "Certified Beer Trainer." I went to graduate school and got a degree in counseling. Got a summer job working with Upward Bound and the rest is history. I fell in love with the smart, motivated and awesome UB high school students who aim to be the first in their families to graduate from college. My people. With these students and my crazy colleagues, I work to fight for opportunity in education. If everyone has this chance, I am convinced that we can make this a kinder, more productive world. I live with my husband the nurse and two little boys in an old, old house that makes me crazy. The yard is the best, though, and provides us with adventure, veggies and a wonderful view.
