About Me

My name is Anja and I am the co-owner of a small dressmaking business in Chicago called [meen kyolë], which in Danish (spelled 'min kjole') means 'my dress'. I was born in Korea and adopted to Denmark by Danish parents. While I now live in Chicago with my American husband, I would describe myself as a Scandinavian European: my tastes, my cultural influences, my outlook on the world are all thoroughly influenced by this self-identity. When growing up I thought for a while that I would one day become a celebrated designer. I pursued this dream by attending tailoring school, however, soon found that lacking. My new passions were English and history. I became an enthusiastic Anglophiliac: language, literature, society, and history. I love to cook! It is my firm belief that people who do not enjoy eating are probably less than trustworthy... So this is my blog: food, fashion, history, and British all sorts - aaaand whatever else captures my attention. Welcome!
