| Introduction | Formed by HDR students from the SoE in 2007 in response to a shared concern that Higher Degree Research candidature was a lonely and anti-social experience, and, an identified need for professional and social engagement with other HDR students and experienced researchers. Meetings have been held monthly on Wednesday nights between 5.00 and 6.30 in the SoE. The program, as agreed by those who regularly attend, has included: PhD. confirmation of candidature ‘rehearsals’; conference paper ‘rehearsals’; general discussions based on a nominated theme or topic; shared snapshots of our research studies and the progress of individual members; conversations about candidature, theory, concepts…; presentations by Dr Margaret Zeegers in her role as School Research & Higher Degrees & Ethics Co-Ordinator (SRHDEC) on various topics related to candidature; invited speakers. |
