About Me

I was born in Britain and love the country dearly. Like most who live here, however, I am frustrated by those elements of public planning and policy which conspire to make life a bit less pleasant, or a bit less fair. In general, I believe that there is no problem so bad that government cannot make it worse. In this space I will record examples of government failure, big and small, and prescribe remedies where I feel competent to do so. A historian and political philosopher by background and an economist by profession, I hope to give our professional politicians and their media acolytes a run for their money ... even if only for my own amusement!
