Introduction In the fourth grade I opened a thesaurus for the first time and noticed that the first entry was 'to be.' After all, for words to relate (synonyms) there must first 'be' ideas - things, actions, descriptions, etc. That was the day I became self-conscious, aware of myself and how I relate to the world. Self-identity, on the other hand, is the definition a being has of him or herself; a relatively permanent self-assessment af physical attributes and abilities. That is what people are expected to post in this space. Many folks I know find their identity in their occupation. I prefer to use music, words, art, and food to describe myself to the world. Self-identity can, and does, change through time. It includes past-selves and future-selves. My future possible-self is what I might (what I want to) become, my hopes, fears, and goals. My future possible-self is incentive today to think before I speak, practice more, eat better, surround myself with meaningful art, and love more deeply.
