Introduction I graduated from high school four decades ago and have seen first hand through my own children and grandchildren the good, bad, and ugly of public education. I am a single grandmother raising a behaviorally-challenged teenage grandson and I have to say that most of his issues in school revolve around the fact that the public school system has no idea how to deal with him. Is he stupid? Definitely, not! His biggest problem is that he is bored...bored because he knows that everything he is being taught at school is so watered down that it has become irrelevant. He also knows that politics in education is all about the MONEY, not about the kids. If you don't believe that the textbooks are wrong and inadequate, then I strongly suggest that you go to a private college library and do research on your own about our history. My question to you then, is: Are your children learning ANYTHING about what you learned about? I urge you to take it upon yourself to teach what public education refuses to do: teach the whole truth about everything!
