Before becoming a writer and editor, Nannette Croce worked for over 10 years as a Benefits Specialist. She worked for both insurance companies and employers purchasing healthcare coverage, and, of course, is also a healthcare consumer. She started her career just before cost containment became a concern, then was hired by a major bank to revamp a medical plan that had become far too expensive. That was over 20 years ago, yet we continue to struggle with the same issues only costs have tripled since then. Being self-employed, Nannette and her husband pay over $12,000 per year for healthcare coverage plus an additional $1600 for their daughter who works three part-time jobs with no health benefits.
