About Me

For links to Scott's previous posts on Blogging the Dream, click on "My Web Page" at the left. Scott grew up in Burbank, California, near the bull’s-eye of metropolitan LA; his father had a job there with NBC, and one of his earliest memories is of playing on the sets for "Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In." He got his BA from Cal State Northridge. Having discovered maybe ten years earlier that he did not like being near the bull’s-eye of greater LA, he at last fled to Yellowstone National Park, where he spent five years working for Yellowstone Park Service Stations. Calmer now, he returned to CSU Northridge for an MA, then went on to the University of California, Davis for a Ph.D. in English. In 2004, he published a book, _Lines on the Land: Writers, Art, and the National Parks_; he talked about both the book and Yellowstone in a Cool Works forum, which can still be found on the Message Board. He lives today in Northern California with his wife and two sons, where he is working on other book projects, including a now-finished book about living in Yellowstone. On résumés and the like, he lists his specialty as “nature writing,” but his real specialty is “NOT putting it all behind you.”
