About Me

Sephardic Jewish woman born in Egypt, living in NYC 1962. Through Women's Lens, I have made amazing re-connections with family on my father's side. Though most of my formal schooling was in English, French is still my native language and the one that inhabits most of my dreams. Both my parents died quite young of cancer and cardiac disease. I was my own mother, I suppose. I married a wonderful man, an Ashkenazi Jew, and together we created a jewel of a daughter, Michele Victoria. Though I am now divorced, I love to write, love to travel, and to read. Blogging is a natural. I've had my own business for 16 years and am ready for my 2nd career. DASSA-A ROYAL FAMILY My cousin Clément in Montréal emailed me the news on 11 August 2007. He has been busy indeed, and in his search for the Dassa family roots, he was able to find our ancestors in Medieval Spain, aka Deza ("z" in spanish is a soft "s"). And the famous Crest. The name itself was given to a town that has erased jews from its history, apparently, not successfully enough. Noble, perhaps, but Diego Deza, the scoundrel, was a converso himself, and became the Grand Inquisitor.

And if Women were to rule the World?
