If you were a pirate, how would you avoid laughing when saying 'poop deck'?
I wouldn't. I would be a good pirate and say "arrrggghhh" and "ahoy, matey!" and "poop deck" with a grin and a twinkle in my eye. And plenty of raucous laughter.
