| Introduction | This blog is devoted to our family of three. Tommy and I have been married since June of 2007. In August of 2009, God blessed us with our first son, Miles! He was born with pulmonary hypertension and went into cardiac arrest. He was revived to life three times through chest compressions. The doctors did not think he would survive, but he did! He was later diagnosed with Pierre Robin Sequence, a physical anomaly in the mid face region characterized by a small jaw, a cleft or high palate, and a tongue that falls back toward the throat. This anomaly sometimes occurs with genetic syndromes and sometimes occurs in isolated instances. Because of various symptoms Miles exhibits it is thought he has Stickler Syndrome even though the genetic tests for it came back negative. It has been a long journey since Miles has been born, but we have learned so much. Miles has had six surgeries and been in the hospital for over four months of his short life. We don't know the future, but there is one thing we are sure of...there is always hope. |
