Introduction One Christmas, many years ago, my presents appeared in a large paper carrier bag. The bag was kept long after that Christmas. Into this bag went egg-boxes, cereal boxes and yogurt pots, fabric scraps, worn-out clothes and left-over yarn; it became known as "The Making Things Bag". I made everything and anything. I learnt to sew, all types of embroidery and crochet, but no matter how hard I tried and no matter who attempted to teach me, I couldn't learn to knit. In my late teens, I decided that if I could do all these other textile crafts, there was no real reason why I could not knit. I borrowed a book from our local library; I read “left-handed people should try …”. I’m left-handed, and that is how I learnt to knit. Knitting has been my passion ever since.
