About Me

I pronounce my name the Gaelic way, "kate-LEEN" (indicated by the accent on the second "I" of my name). When I was about six years old I decided there were too many plain old Caitlins and wanted something else. When my mom told me the Gaelic pronunciation of my name, I knew that was what I wanted to be called.
I'm a homeschool graduate with a fierce love for reading, sailing, friends, great classical and awesome traditional Celtic and Celtic rock music, my family, and my cute, annoying, wonderful, and amazing tuxedo cat Viva.
I'm a member of Sea Scout Ship 7916, and the Skipper's daughter (which always sounds like the title of a cheesy romance to me. The Skipper's Daughter, can't you imagine it?). I earned the rank of Apprentice in July 2008 and served as Ship's Boatswain in the 2008-2009 program year. I took a demotion and am currently serving in the position of Boatswain's Mate for Program, which doesn't require as much bossiness, dang it! ;-)

If you were a pirate, how would you avoid laughing when saying 'poop deck'?

Unless my IQ and/or maturity level went way down upon my turning pirate, I should be able to avoid laughing when saying "poop deck." Poop just isn't funny anymore.
