Introduction As a small child I never let my mother read to me, always snatching the book from her hands, insisting that I "read" to her. It wasn't long before I actually learned to read, and I've been a voracious reader ever since. I love when I read a book, and five years later I can remember exactly where I was and how I felt when I read it. I guess that's why I remember many events in my life by the books I was reading at the time. I was reading Girl with a Pearl Earring on a bus heading to midtown Manhattan on my morning commute the minute the planes hit the World Trade Center. David Copperfield provided my escape from contracts, procedure, and torts during my first semester of law school, and as my husband and I jetted off on our honeymoon, I tucked into The Blind Assassin for the 7 hour flight. I believe a great book is both beautifully written and a wonderful story. Some of my favorites are Pride and Prejudice, Middlesex, and The Prince of Tides, but I'm constantly searching for other great books to add to that list.
