When I was 18, I spent a summer interning for YM magazine and my love affair with the publishing industry bloomed. I've read slush for a literary agent, written copy for a regional magazine, worked in a children's bookstore, been editor of a small literary magazine, was a production editor for a major educational publisher, taught the fundamentals of writing at a community college, and currently work as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader. I studied writing as an undergrad at UC Irvine with Michelle Latiolais and Andrew Altschul, and as a graduate student at St. Mary's College with John Fleming, Lou Berney, Lynn Freed, Susan Trott, Amy Hempel, and Jill McCorkle among others. I’ve been a member of the SCBWI for the past ten years; I enjoy volunteering for the organization, most recently as the managing editor of the Kite Tales newsletter for the Rocky Mountain chapter. Currently I’m revising a middle grade mystery that I like to think of as The Westing Game meets Goonies at a slumber party thrown by Edgar Allan Poe. I am represented by Ammi-Joan Paquette of the Erin Murphy Literary Agency.
The squish of mud between your toes; how would you live your life as a frog?
