Introduction In 2012, we, being Hugo and Pip, left behind Sydney and our apartment and careers in the city for Tasmania and a 105 year old cottage on 32 acres of Huon Valley hillside, 2 minutes from the pretty foodie hamlet of Cygnet, population 1600. Little Oak is home to two very naughty identical sibling pups, Wednesday and Pugsley who challenge us no end with their fence jumping abilities, a small herd of rare breed Berkshire pigs, Light Sussex and Australorp chooks, countless birds and bee's and us. Our goal when we came here was affordable living and learning to make do with less, being connected to where our food came from and space, to have it and to utilise it, so little by little we are breathing life back into Little Oak which has been an orchard and a pine plantation in its time. Vegetable gardens, food forests, sprawling gardens, renovations keep us busy around the cottage and then there is the other 31 acres creating new paddocks, rejuvenating old ones, revegetation of bush for our wildlife friends and a creek and two dams to clean up and somewhere in there we will find time to blog about it. Thanks for looking us up!
