| Introduction | Well, lets see: My ancestors come from Italy and Mexico on my father's side. My grandfather was a successful businessman who was instumentall in, among other things, building the subway in New York. My grandmother, a Mexican indian, was orphaned during the war that ravaged that country in the earlt twentieth century. She was brought to this country by the renowned journalist Richard Harding Davis. He raised her and is fondly spoken of as "grandpa Davis" by the old folks. That was long before my time. On my mothers side I am Irish and English. I am told that I descend from St. Margaret of Scotland. But I am a poor sinner and while I would rather it be that saintliness is genetically determined it is not. I am sad proof. That said, the oldest part of my family here in America arrived sometime between 1668 and 1712. At length they settled in Emmittsburg, Maryland. So. Here I am. |
