| Introduction | I come from Indiana "truck gardening" farm stock. I began my garden in 1976 and have enlarged the space at least once. In 1979 my garden received an "Honorable Mention" in the First Annual Victory Garden Contest. After my retirement in 2002 I did horticulture research and published research in the spring and fall of 2006. I continue to do my own "backyard" research with apples and different vegetables each growing season. My wife and I are both Wisconsin Master Gardener Volunteers.
