About Me

Wow, there's nothing like autobiography to create complete writer's block. After a decade of marriage, we decided to disrupt a life of ease and have children (long after our parents had given up hope). Our quirky engineering-minded son arrived in 2005 (with a tornado following quickly on his heels). Though I wasn't ever a joiner, I now find myself a member of Tuesday Mommas (a laid back parenting group), a co-leader of a book group, a periodic 5th grade volunteer in my mom's classroom, and the volunteer director for a small English as a Second Language program for Japanese women. BabyGeek and I also try to regularly attend library storytime and visit our local YMCA. Before we moved to Southern Indiana, I greatly enjoyed work as an academic advisor at Ball State's Honors College. This enjoyable work left me with an instinct for offering advice that could easily leave my friends and relatives overwhelmed and annoyed. To keep my well-intentioned smarty-pants bossiness in check, I blog.
