| Introduction | I am mother to three special kids, ages 9, 7, and 6. The oldest has Asperger's, with all the blessings and challenges one would expect. My children are fascinating little people who keep me busy and mostly amused. I have been married for 13 years to a liberal minded, ultra-marathon running, fiercely independent, loving guy. I am a new midwife, and I fully believe in the power of women to birth their babies and the power of babies to get born. I went to graduate school and finished a degree in microbiology, but choose to not be a scientist (professionally, that is. It is impossible to choose to not be a scientist.) I am a very liberal Christian, and I love my UCC church community. I grew up in Ohio and miss my family there and the people of that part of the country. My community of friends is very important to me. I'm a beginning marathoner and have experienced great joy in learning to run. I live in a small, old house with a huge yard and a dog and it is a place full of life, with all the love, joy and mess that entails. |
