Introduction Rabbi Shaina Bacharach is the spiritual leader of Congregation Cnesses Israel in Green Bay, WI -- She loves being a rabbi. In Green Bay, she also learned to love the Packers! Rabbi Shaina grew up in Clarksdale, MS. There is much she loved about the South. However, she vividly remembers the turmoil of the civil rights years and the terrorism perpetrated against those who believed all citizens deserved equal treatment before the law. Rabbi Shaina's family moved to Oklahoma City, OK, in time for her to attend the University of Oklahoma. She graduated from OU's Nursing College and worked as an R.N. for several years. Her increasing involvement in Judaism led her to teach at a Jewish day school in Oklahoma City. From there, she went to rabbinic school and was ordained in 1999 at the Jewish Theological Seminary. She and her husband, Robert Dick, have four children between them: Elise, Jenny, Sean, and Simon -- and a grandson Austin. They also have a Boston Terrier named Greta and two cats, Devash and Tribble.
Interests Torah study: Tanach (Bible), rabbinic literature, mussar, kaballah. Also, gardening, sudoko and crossword puzzles, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Oklahoma University Sooners in football and the Chicago Cubs in baseball, and especially spending time with my family and spoiling my wonderful grandson!
