About me

Introduction I moved to the US with my husband for job opportunity as many immigrants do. I've learned from this great country that making a difference means taking action ourselves. After experiencing the career thrills of the dot.com boom and bust and building a number of successful online brands, I decided to take some time out to explore my family roots and tell a story that will make a difference; to reduce hatred. Babcie is Polish for Grandmother. (pronounced Bub-chee). This blog is the story of my two grandmothers, one I knew in person, one I will get to know. My Babcia, Irena, was killed by the Nazis outside of Warsaw shortly after my mother's birth. My mother was raised by Irena's sister, Alicja prior to her imprisonment in Auschwitz. After the war, Alicja and her husband adopted her and emmigrated to Australia. I knew Alicja as my Babcia and discovered the truth about my second Babcia in my late teens. Alicja wanted to make sure her experience in Auschwitz and Ravensbruck never happened again. I want to help carry out her wish.
