Introduction Having been involved with sports when I was younger, I found myself unhappy with how out of shape I had become as an adult. After ping ponging back and forth with my weight and fitness, I decided at age 33 it was time to try something new. As a girl who hated running long distances when I was younger, I am not sure what possessed me to decide to try to run those first two miles in 2010. But that was all it took, and I have been hooked ever since.

Recently I decided to take running more seriously, and now have run in numerous 5Ks, a 10K, and am preparing to run in my first half marathon in September 2012. Running has become so much more than just a way to keep fit; it is now an integral part of my life. Running has challenged and rewarded me in ways I never would have imagined. It has improved my mental toughness, provided stress relief, and taught me I can achieve my goals if I believe I can.

I may not run the fastest or farthest, and that is ok. The important thing is, no matter the speed or distance, that you just keep going.
