About Me

I retired from the Suffolk County Police Department after 21 years. I'm writing a true crime memoir, which centers around the first murder in the history of Northport Village, a crime my armchair detective grandmother spoke about when I was a child; it's a story I've been destined to tell. I'm currently searching for an agent. I'm a breast cancer survivor and I volunteer with the American Cancer Society and Crime Stoppers of Suffolk County, Inc. I enjoy writing essays and I'm giving fiction a try after years of "just the facts." My hint fiction story, "Playing with Matches" will appear in an anthology of Hint Fiction, edited by Robert Swartwood, to be published by W.W. Norton in Fall 2010. I received a Creative Nonfiction award in 2009 from the Public Safety Writers Association for my essay, "The Watcher," which Frank McCourt encouraged me to write during his Memoir Writing Workshop at the 2007 Southampton Writers Conference.
