About Me

Three generations of my family lived on the tiny island of Aruba, and that is where I was born. From age ten to university, I lived in Brazil and went to local schools where all classes were in Portuguese. After my B.A. degree in the United States, I lived for nine years in Tahiti. I love and live language and because of fortunate circumstances, I speak English, French, Portuguese and Spanish--and a smattering of a few other languages. I have an M.A. in Communications, and have published two books on intercultural communication with UT Press. My husband, Glen, and I have experience in real estate and in international business. We develop real estate in Austin, Texas, and build a few select colonial style houses in Patzcuaro, Mexico.
