About Me

Mother of four, wife, artist, writer, walker, adventurer. I'm not easy to pin down to one thing. I became an athlete at 50 when I entered and finished my first marathon. It was on my flight home from that adventure that inspiration hit in the form of my first book: The First Marathon: the Legend of Pheidippides. My biggest adventure to date has been nearly 200 miles in the Arctic Circle of Lapland, Sweden (summer '07). There's just nothing like such a wilderness. I traveled alone and carried a 40 lb. pack. I've had lengthy walks in Scotland, Belgium, and Italy as well. My second book Walking Outside the Box came together shortly after I walked the 93 miles of the West Highland Way in Scotland. The book includes much more than just that adventure, but the WHW really launched me into distance multi-day walks. Ever since I've been constantly scouting potantial locations for the next long walk. It's a big planet and I've a lot left to see!
