| Introduction | I was born and raised in America. St. Louis is my hometown, though I lived for a number of years in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The first time I went to Italy was in 1998, but my love affair with Italy began long before. My maternal grandmother's family hailed from Alanno, a little commune in the province of Pescara in the region of Abruzzo. They left to immigrate to the United States, a decision that fascinated me always. My first visit to Italy in general opened my eyes to another culture and way of life. My affair with Italy turned into a full-blown romance in 2008 when I spent two weeks exploring the country with friends, and again when I returned in 2013, 2018, and 2022. The romance is a predominantly long-distance one, but I dream of spending more time there someday. This blog is a way to keep my eyes on things that are happening in Italy and share them. I will also share my journey of learning the Italian language and exploring citizenship possibilities. |
