About Me

Born in Puerto de Luna valley on the banks of the Pecos in New Mexico, I later owned the Route 66 Club Café in Santa Rosa. During that epic time, I enjoyed worldwide fame in media that included books, television, magazines and newspapers. Then my writings began to catch fire. “Man of Honor” is in the anthology “Voces” (Voices) by UNM Press. My short stories appeared in the “Guadalupe County Communicator.” In Taos, my poetry has been published in “The Herencia Magazine,” “Talk Back,” “The Masters Quarterly,” “El Crepúsculo” and “Taos News Tempo. The American Memories Project of New York will feature me in a documentary about American Poets to be shown in film festivals. Channel 22 in Taos ran “Spanish Passions de Taos” the last week of September, 2006. My performance can be viewed on the web at http://www.its-happening-in-taos.com/RonChavez.html. Also in Taos, I have presented poetry recitals in many venues, including SOMOS and National Public Radio. My poetry reflects passions of love and life in an earthy but edgy style in both English and Spanish. My script, “The Loneliest Road,” is being considered by filmmakers.
