Charlie Day, a retired psychologist, is the founder in 1994 and guiding teacher of the Des Moines Meditation Group (DMMG). He has studied Buddhism and other spiritual and mystical traditions for over 45 years in the US, India, and Thailand with Thich Nhat Hanh,H.H. Dalai Lama, Mingyur Rinpoche, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Bhante Gunarantana, Bhikkhu Buddhadasa, S.N. Goenka, Swami Muktananda, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, Matthew Flickstein (his personal teacher), Thomas Keating, B. Alan Wallace, Ramesh Balsekar, J. Khrisnamurti, Joseph Goldstein, Jack Kornfield, Jon Kabat-Zin, etc. Charlie teaches meditation as a way to grow psychologically and spiritually and Buddhism as a way of life and philosophy compatible with all religions. He teaches classes, sitting groups, retreats, and guides individuals in their spiritual practices. Judy Allen and Fred Nelson are co-teachers with Charlie. Cris Dougass is the DMMG Assistant. |
